Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November, which this year (2014) is November 27th. Thanksgiving Day is the most truly American of the national holidays in the United States and is most closely connected with the earliest history of the country.
11月的最后一个星期四是感恩节，今年（2014年）的感恩节是11月27日。感恩节是美国国定假日中最地道的美国式节日，而且和美国早期历史的联系最为密切。
The pattern of the Thanksgiving celebration has never changed through the years. The big family dinner is planned months ahead. On the dinner table, people will find apples, oranges, chestnuts, walnuts and grapes. There will be plum pudding, mince pie, other varieties of food and cranberry juice and squash. The best and most attractive among them are roast turkey and pumpkin pie. They have been the most traditional and favorite food on Thanksgiving Day throughout the years.

Of all the Thanksgiving symbols the Turkey has become the most well known. The turkey has brown features with buff-colored feathers on the tips of the wing and on the tail. The male turkey is called a Tom and, as with most birds, is bigger and has brighter and more colorful plumage. The female is called a Hen and is generally smaller and drab in color.

年末了，又是聚会的时节了，但是你是否准备好用英语交谈了吗？在你遇到朋友、同事和新认识的朋友并和他们打招呼时，要某些话题可不能随便提起。以免引起尴尬哦！
（1）You've put on weight.
避免指出某人很胖或对体重发表意见，除非你试图用粗鲁的方式对待别人。谈论体重常常是非常敏感的话题，而类似You're getting fat. 评论则是非常之粗鲁且侮辱人的。
（2）Oh you're pregnant!
除非这是非常的明显，没有必要故意提起这事。如果你说错了的话，可能就会让对方感到非常的侮辱。
（3）Is this your daughter?
但是，如果她恰巧是他的女朋友怎么办呢？避免对对方关系的任何猜测，而是等待对方介绍，或是大胆的介绍自己。
（4）Your sister is so much prettier than you.
在一些文化传统中这也许是没有任何问题的评论，但这可能会伤害你正在与之谈话的人。反之，不要比较，只是提到他的姐姐非常漂亮就可以了。
（5）That color doesn't suit you.
对某人外表否定的评论可能会破坏整个夜晚的气氛——特别是他们已经在着装上花费了很多心血。赞赏你喜欢的一件衣服或饰品试着让别人感到非常愉快。
（6）How much money do you make?
这可能并不是侮辱，然而却是能让人尴尬的私人话题。在许多地方谈论钱或薪水都是不和时宜的。
（7）You look sick.
如果这么直接说的话，可能会变成一种侮辱了。如果某人的确看起来不太健康，你可以问：Are you feeling ok?
（8）How old are you?
对许多人来说，年龄是敏感的话题，很多人不愿透露他们的具体年龄。不要问这样的问题——除非你是和一个6岁的小孩在谈话。他们可愿意告诉别人年龄了！
总之话题不要太私人化或否定。在社交场合，甚至在所有的场合，能按照一句英国流行的谚语做是非常得体聪明的：If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

想想看，如果一个人张口闭口都在强调自己，作为旁人一定感到很别扭。提出请求自然更要先征得他人的认可，确定人家的意思。这时候，英文中表示假设的if就会让你在表达时更加委婉，显得彬彬有礼。

4. 怎样拒绝他人才算委婉？
别人有了提议，请你去party或是吃饭，恰逢你有了其他安排。你该怎么答？直接说： Sorry, I have another appointment. 肯定会令对方伤心不已。不论你用哪种句型，关键在于要表达出你十分想去、可又迫不得已的无奈心情。这样，下回有活动，人家才会想到你。
I'm afraid I can't go to the party. I have to finish this job this evening.
我恐怕没法去派对了。这项工作今晚必须都做完。
5. 不要吝惜说“谢谢”
A: Would you like some more cake?
再多来点蛋糕吗？
B：No thank you。
不了，谢谢！
说话做事要顾及他人的感受，这是中西方共通之处。与老外交流中，适当之处多说一句"Thanks"，"Thank you"，一定能给对方留下好感。

1.My head hurts! 头痛
This means that you probably have a headache or worse still, a migraine.You can have a slight, throbbing, pounding or splitting headache.
它的意思是你可能头疼或者更严重，是医学上的偏头痛。也就是你有轻微的，悸动的，砰砰砰的或是要裂开似的头疼。
2.My ears are sore! 耳朵痛
Your ears could also hurt or ache meaning that you have earache.
你的耳朵可能受伤或疼痛意味着你耳朵疼。
3. I have a toothache! 牙痛
You will need to see the dentist who will probably have to pull your tooth out. You may have a cavity caused by tooth decay.

4. My arm is sore! 胳膊痛
Perhaps you did some strenuous exercise or overused your arm at work. The soreness normally passes.

If I eat too much, I get a stomach ache. The pain can be sharp. Sometimes, my stomach can feel queasy.

11. My legs feel weak! 腿无力
Especially after a long run, your legs can feel weak and wobbly. If that happens, you need to sit down.

12. I twisted my ankle! 崴到脚踝
A twisted ankle could mean that you have sprained it or worse, broken it. That will make walking very difficult and very painful.
